Cold Lake RCMP make multiple arrests in joint effort to reduce crime and auto theft

Thirteen people from the Lakeland area have been arrested as the result of a joint effort between the Cold Lake RCMP and various local and regional law enforcement groups.

COLD LAKE – A coordinated effort between local and regional law enforcement agencies has resulted in the arrest of 13 people from the Cold Lake area.

The joint operation between the Cold Lake RCMP, Cold Lake General Investigation Section (GIS), Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU), RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS), as well as the MD of Bonnyville Criminal Intelligence Analyst was carried out Nov. 25-26 and Dec. 12.

“I’d like to recognize all the hard work of the MD of Bonnyville Criminal Intelligence Analyst, police officers and Support Staff involved, whom once again went to above and beyond in a display of cooperation and professionalism,” said Sgt. Ryan Howrish, Cold Lake RCMP Operations Officer, in a press release. “Special projects such as these, help us achieve our goal of making our community safer.”

On Nov. 25-26, police officers conducted an intelligence-led operation, which led them to locate and arrest eight individuals on outstanding apprehension warrants.

During this operation, the following persons were arrested for various criminal code offences:

· Adam Bulger (54) of Mallaig, Alberta

· Shawn Dean (33) of Cold Lake, Alberta

· Dustin Desjarlais (31) of Cold Lake, Alberta

· Kalvin Jacko (55) of Cold Lake, Alberta

· Bobby-Joe Janvier (32) of Cold Lake, Alberta

· Skylar Young (30) of Cold Lake, Alberta

· Gary Jeffery (56) of Ardmore, Alberta

· Teylor Roberts (24) of Cold Lake, Alberta

On Dec. 12, during another planned intelligence-led operation targeting rural property crime, officers observed a vehicle believed to be used in property crime related offences. They attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, the vehicle fled from police.

The suspect vehicle later made an attempt to hit an occupied stationary police vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene again, but police were able to eventually locate the vehicle.

After a lengthy foot pursuit by PDS, the five suspects were arrested. A firearm and ammunition seized by police has been linked to the suspects.

Rudy Cardinal, 20, 28-year-old Dallas Janvier, Quaid Janvier, 23, and Shy-Lynn Mayer-Janvier, 23, along with a young offender whom cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were arrested and charged for multiple offences including dangerous operation of motor vehicle, assault on police officer, flight from police, and weapons related charges.
