Cold Lake's Imperial Park hit by graffiti

Cold Lake's Imperial Park was vandalised over the weekend. RCMP are asking for assistance in identifying the suspect caught on video surveillance.

COLD LAKE - City staff spent the better part of their weekend scrubbing graffiti off of various parts of Cold Lake's Imperial Park after a vandal spray painted buildings, sidewalks, and school buses.

Cold Lake RCMP are asking the public for information about the incident that occurred between 4:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. on June 5.

Cold Lake High School and the Cold Lake Energy Centre were vandalised by an unknown suspect.

RCMP and Cold Lake Municipal Enforcement found multiple items were tagged with graffiti including a shed, signage, walls, sidewalks, and the skateboard park, among other locations.

The suspect, who was caught on video surveillance leaving the area with a wheelbarrow, is described as a tall, slender male wearing a black hoodie with a Red Dragon Society logo on the front and plaid black and white shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the local detachment at 78-594-3301.

“There was a considerable amount of tagging that occurred at the Imperial Park, including the Community Garden, Imperial Park Baseball Diamonds, the Energy Centre itself, the Cold Lake High School and the sidewalks around it also got tagged, as well as some of the mobile assets such as the busses that were out there,” said city CAO Kevin Nagoya during Tuesday's council meeting.
