COLD LAKE - The 6th annual Diwali event - a festival of lights and multicultural celebration - is set to bring the community together for another performance filled with performances and food.

The Diwali event will take place on Nov. 18 at the Cold Lake Energy Centre. The night will include several multicultural performances and catered Indian cuisine.

Last year, the event saw 500 people attend. This year, organizers are planning for 600 people.

The Lakeland Multicultural Association stated performers include local dancers from Pirouette Dance, and performances from the Ukrainian Dance Academy, a mariachi band, an Indigenous dance by Randi Candeline, along with a semi classical dance by Alma.

The food will be coming from Dhillon Sweets and Bakery in Edmonton. Because the event is child-friendly, there will be craft tables for the kids, and cotton candy and popcorn stations, and a APEGA station for science experiments.

To to add to the experience, there will also be a Henna booth, a silent auction, and an after party.

The Lakeland Multicultural Association is looking for more volunteers to join their eight board members. Kiran Braich, President of the Lakeland Multicultural Association stated, "We are always looking for more members to be a part of our association, to bring fresh ideas to the table or use it as a learning source to be on an executive board."

Doors for the Diwali event open at 5 p.m. with entertainment starting at 5:30 p.m. There are still tickets available to purchase. There is no cost for children under six years old to attend.
