COLD LAKE - From Feb. 17 to 19 the Snow Fever festival, co-hosted by the City of Cold Lake, 4 Wing, and Kinosoo Ridge Resort, will come alive with a multitude of winter-themed activities and games, ensuring a Family Day weekend filled with lots of fun.

On Feb. 17, the weekend will start at Kinosoo Ridge, where complimentary snowboard and ski lessons will be given. There will also be photo booths and special offers at the tube park.

Sun, Feb 18th, the fun will move to the Cold Lake Energy Centre, where there will be ice slides, games on the ice, and sleigh rides.

The weekend will then wrap up on Mon, the 19, with a maple sugar shack, wagon rides, and inflatables.

Carlee Schaefer, Deputy Manager PSP (Canadian Forces Morale & Welfare Services (CFMWS)) at 4 CFB Cold Lake, describes Snow Fever as an "eagerly anticipated annual community event that brings together participants from 4 Wing and surrounding communities, for a day of festive fun.”

The event promises a diverse range of activities catering to all ages and interests. From face painting and glitter tattoos to a gigantic inflatable slide and roving performers, there is indeed something for everyone. Snow Fever has become a community tradition, with returning favourites such as a free public swim, balloon animals, and the inflatable boot camp adding to the excitement, said Schaefer.

“For those seeking winter-themed fun, our event offers indoor and outdoor skating, wagon rides, and the delightful experience of the Maple Sugar Shack,” says Schaefer. Attendees are encouraged to come prepared with warm attire for outdoor activities, socks to use the inflatables, and swimsuits with towels for the public swimming.

Parking will be available at the 4 Wing Youth Centre or CANEX parking lots.

As a treat for hungry participants, a complimentary hot dog lunch sponsored by CANEX will be served, and attendees can savour the French-Canadian tradition of maple taffy on snow at the Maple Sugar Shack.

“What sets our event apart is its accessibility to the entire community, free of charge. The Maple Sugar Shack, an annual favourite, adds a unique charm that keeps the attendees returning year after year. As our event has grown in popularity, so has its offerings. From its beginnings with inflatables, face painting and public swims, Snow Fever at 4 Wing has expanded to include a variety of activities such as wagon or sleigh rides... balloon animals, and interactive entertainment.”

The 4 Wing Community Recreation team is eagerly anticipating seeing everyone on Family Day.
