COLD LAKE - On Sept. 30, the Cold Lake Museums will be opening its doors to help commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

Linda Dunn, Heritage Museum Curator, said this will be the museum's third year hosting the event.

"Each year we had over 100 people attend," Dunn stated. This year, the line-up of events includes a talk about residential schools given by Lynda Minoose, a residential school survivor and Cold Lake First Nations Elder. The talk will be taking place in the Indigenous Museum Gallery at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day.

After the talk, people are encouraged to view the museum displays about Blue Quills Residential school and Orange Shirt Day.

Admission to the museum is free for the day, but any donations collected will be given to Kokum's House. Last year, the museum raised $794.
