Haunted maze attracts hundreds for a scare

COLD LAKE - Cold Lake Haunt was back with "Old Hallows Eve" on the evenings of Oct. 28 and 29.

Over 20 volunteers spent about 150 hours turning a room at the Mackenzie Arts and Community Centre on Cold Lake 4 Wing into a haunted maze where everyone was welcome to walk through from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Andrea Lorinczy, director of Cold Lake Haunt, says she loves Halloween. "I came in the second year of the haunt. The original team has all been posted. I am a bit of a nut for Halloween."

The Cold Lake Haunt group started 10 years ago, most were or are military members, and presently has a six-person committee. They have a large inventory of Halloween themed decor and props. At it's peak time, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, they saw over 800 people go through the haunted maze. This year they were aiming for 500 people.
