RCMP not looking for suspects after responding to suspicious deaths on Elizabeth Métis Settlement

In an update provided to media on May 27, RCMP say they are not looking for any suspects in relation to the suspicious deaths of two people on Elizabeth Métis Settlement.

ELIZABETH MÉTIS SETTLEMENT - In an update provided to media on May 27, RCMP say they are not looking for any suspects in relation to the suspicious deaths of two people on Elizabeth Métis Settlement. 

On May 21, RCMP responded to a call on Township Road 610 regarding a structure fire. Alberta RCMP Major Crimes soon took carriage of the investigation.

"Upon arrival, emergency responders were able to remove one resident from the home, however they were deceased. Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze however the home suffered extensive damage," according to information from RCMP.

Since then, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit, working with the Medical Examiner, confirmed the identify of both deceased persons as a 58-year-old female and a 60-year-old male, both residents of the home.

"RCMP are not looking for suspects in this matter," reads the update.

Elizabeth Métis Settlement is located about 36 km south of the City of Cold Lake.
