COLD LAKE – Three community organizations will share $11,625 in funding following a decision at the City of Cold Lake’s Aug. 12 regular council meeting.

The money comes through the Community Recreation, Art, Culture, and Heritage Investment Grant (CRACH), which has a total annual budget of $250,000, according to the City of Cold Lake.

“The Advisory Committee for this grant puts in a lot of work to make sure the funding can be spread throughout the year,” said Mayor Craig Copeland. “We’re just over half-way through the year, so we want to make sure there’s enough funding for events that take place in the latter half of 2025.”

The approved funding includes:

  • 4 Wing Personnel Support Programs – $2,625 sponsorship grant.

  • Cold Lake Fighter Jets Football Club – $6,000 sponsorship grant.

  • Wild North Eclectic Society – $3,000 in support of the Summer Rush Festival.

In addition to the three approvals, council also passed a request from the Cold Lake Tennis Club to amend the purpose of a Leadership Grant. The $1,087 will now go toward tennis learning sessions open to the public.

According to the staff report, the Community Grant Advisory Committee reviewed three applications at its July 17 meeting, which had a combined request of $21,750. The committee recommended $11,625 in funding.

So far in 2025, $147,700 has already been approved under the CRACH program, With the transfer of the remaining Capital Grant budget earlier this year, a total of $146,122 remains available for community projects for the rest of the year, according to information from the City of Cold Lake.

The CRACH Policy was updated in February 2025, introducing monthly application intakes, reducing deadlines, and removing the requirement for applicants to attend as a delegation.
