COLD LAKE - Cold Lake RCMP tracked down a stolen vehicle on Feb. 8 thanks to a tip from the public.

At about 10:18 a.m., RCMP received the tip, and after speaking to the complainant, police were able to locate the vehicle in question in the area of the Elizabeth Métis Settlement townsite.

"Police attempted to pull the suspect vehicle over but it proceeded to flee the scene and police followed," according to RCMP. "After a successful deployment of a tire deflation device, Cold Lake RCMP, with assistance from Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services, were able to successfully apprehend two suspects, one of which was a youth."

Claire Cardinal, 19, a resident of Elizabeth Métis Settlement, and the youth, were both charged with flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and other charges.

Both individuals were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded in custody. They are set to appear on Feb. 28 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake.

Elizabeth Métis Settlement is located about 36 km south of the City of Cold Lake.
