U18 Lakeland Jags dominate Provincials, sweep tournament 5-0

The U18 Lakeland Jaguars hosted - and won - provincials in Cold Lake over the weekend.

COLD LAKE - The U18 Lakeland Jaguars will keep their title as the U18 Female B reigning champions for another year following an incredible showing at the 2023 Alberta Provincial Championships held at the Cold Lake Energy Centre over the weekend.

The Lakeland team went undefeated in the tournament and won the gold medal game 4-0 against the Battle River Knights on Sunday afternoon.

Scoring in the final game was Brooklyn Vachon in the first period, followed by Dacia Lodoen and Abigail Metchewais who both found the back of the net in the second period. Isabella Cory would score the final goal of the game in the third period.

The Jags also swept the tournament's leader board. Cierra Nuttall, Jags #19, garnered the most points in the tournament with 10, followed by Jags' forwards Berry Rosychuk, also with 10 points, and Faith Donovan with nine points.

Rosychuk had the highest number of goals in the tournament, finishing the tournament with seven goals to her name. Nuttall would have the third most with five goals.

Recording the most assists during the tournament was Donovan. She lent a hand in seven goals. Nuttall would come in second, having assisted on five goals.

Even the Jaguars' goalies, Ava Pinch and Kyra Quinney, were setting the bar high in tournament. Pinch recorded a 0.33 Goal Against Average (GAA) in the tournament, followed by Quinney who had a 1.50 GAA.
