COLD LAKE – A warrant apprehension initiative in Cold Lake resulted in the location and arrest of 14 habitual offenders without incident.

The Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit (LCRU), along with the assistance of the Cold Lake RCMP, Police Dog Services (PDS) Unit, and General Investigative Section (GIS), also seized a SKS firearm, ammunition, and stolen property during the initiative on Jan. 19.

Police also located and arrested 23-year-old Tarron Grandbois of Cold Lake First Nation, who was wanted on an outstanding Canada wide arrest warrant.

The LCRU is a recently formed RCMP team whose mandate is to identify high risk and dangerous prolific offenders in the Lakeland area and aggressively put a stop to their activities. Property crime, including vehicle thefts and break and enters, continue to be a priority for the RCMP.
