An analysis of federal data by The Canadian Press shows that the city had on average 166,593 recipients during each four-week pay period for the pandemic aid.

The expected delivery will represent the single largest shipment to Canada since the start of the pandemic as Pfizer continues scaling up production after a month-long slowdown while it expanded a plant in Belgium.

However, Moderna's next shipment on Feb. 22 will now be only two-thirds of what it was supposed to be. Pfizer's deliveries will only meet the promised number of doses if medical professionals can adjust to extracting six doses instead of five from every vial.

To qualify as a "listed hotel," lodgings must be near one of the four airports currently accepting international flights – in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.

A statement from Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada's chief public health officer, said national surveillance data show "hopeful signs of declining COVID-19 activity," suggesting ongoing public health restrictions across the country are taking effect.

Canada is unlikely to get any doses from those three companies directly until at least April.

Federal Procurement Minister Anita Anand told the House of Commons industry committee that her department "proactively and repeatedly approached leading vaccine manufacturers" about the matter.

In a daily update Thursday, Dr. Theresa Tam said there are 48,221 active COVID-19 cases in Canada, down from more than 68,400 cases two weeks ago.

The COVAX vaccine alliance confirmed to Canada Tuesday it could expect to receive between 1.9 million and 3.2 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. But public numbers posted by COVAX Wednesday point only to the lower end of that range.
