ELK POINT - The Elk Point 4-H Beef Club had their mini achievement day on April 7. Everyone brought in their steers, and heifer projects were optional.
Kailey and Lexi Wirsta came and did a clipping demonstration for us, they gave us very useful information. After the demo we had lunch followed by a short meeting. After the meeting we went and put the demonstration to work and started on clipping each of our projects.
As members finished clipping we each took pictures for the District Show and Sale catalogues. Once all of the clipping was done, Kailey and Lexi gave the club a demonstration on showmanship. They showed us how we should walk, switch hands, pull in and out of place, and more.
We had a very good and informative day, and got to see and do things ourselves. The quote “learn to do by doing” is something we very much believe in.
