RCMP investigating fatal collision on Unipouheos First Nation

RCMP in Elk Point are investigating a fatal head-on motor vehicle collision that happened late last night.

ELK POINT - RCMP in Elk Point are investigating a fatal head-on motor vehicle collision. 

Police responded to a 911 call about a possible explosion on Hwy. 897 on Unipouheos First Nation late last night. 

Officers located a serious head-on motor vehicle collision between two vehicles that resulted in one of the vehicles catching fire. Neither of the drivers of the vehicles survived the crash. 

Emergency and fire services attended to extinguish the flames. 

A 29-year-old St. Albert female was the driver and lone occupant of one vehicle, and a 39-year-old Moosomin First Nation, Saskatchewan male was the driver and only occupant of the other. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. 

Elk Point RCMP, along with an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate the cause of this fatality.
