A firearm discharged in downtown Lac La Biche injures one person

Lac La Biche RCMP are requesting the publics assistance as they investigate an alleged shooting that occurred close to Lac La Biche Main Street on the morning of Sept. 7.

LAC LA BICHE – At approximately 5 a.m. on Sept. 7, the Lac La Biche RCMP received a 911 call regarding a male who sustained non-life threatening injuries from a firearm that was discharged near Main Street. 

According to S/Sgt. Neil Bailey, two shots were allegedly discharged and was reported to have occurred near 104a St. and 101 Ave. in the hamlet of Lac La Biche.  

However, RCMP do not have an exact crime scene location for the incident and are now asking for the public's assistance to provide any dash camera, surveillance footage or information from potential witnesses of the incident, Bailey told Lakeland Today.  

The time frame and location that police have indicated as being relevant to the investigation is between 4 and 5 a.m. and around the blocks of 103 St. to 105 St. and 100 Ave to 101 Ave in the Lac La Biche hamlet on Sept. 7. 

S/Sgt. Bailey reiterates that although no arrests have been made so far, there is no ongoing risk to the public, as police believe this was not a random act. 

Lac La Biche RCMP investigation is ongoing and due to the nature of the incident, additional information is unlikely to be made available to the public, Bailey adds.
