Annual Library Con event takes place in Lac La Biche

To boldly go where they have gone for the last 8 years

LAC LA BICHE - For a few hours on Jan. 6, the Stuart MacPherson Library in Lac La Biche felt like a science-fiction movie or a comic book creation.

The change was thanks to the ninth annual Library Con event.

This year’s Library Con, was a four-hour event that offered a variety of sci-fi and fantasy-related activities, including a costume and sci-fi video contest, laser tag, a Space Travel Quest, an opportunity to get pictures taken in an alien-themed photo booth, as well as crafts for children and teenagers.

Throughout the afternoon, library staff and visitors were dressed in costumes representing a variety of fandoms, including Star Wars, the Terminator, and characters from the Marvel Universe. There were also craft and vendor booths where local artisans mingled with those passing by and sold their creations.

The free family event brings a taste of Comic Con to the community, and allows people to meet others with similar interests.

The annual Library Con is one of the several events hosted at the Lac La Biche and Plamondon libraries throughout the year.
