Lac La Biche County residents have spoken and with 1195 votes, Aurel Langevin will remain in the mayor's seat four the next four years.

Langevin says he is thankful for all of the support he has received from voters, family and friends.

"First of all I would like to thank my supporters for believing in me and electing me to serve you as leader of our County and Council for the next four years," he said in a prepared statement. "My family also needs my thanks for allowing me to share my time dedicated to looking after the needs of our constituents. I also want to thank all those who have come forward and campaigned to engage in public service. You need to be congratulated for your passion and desire to contribute to your communities. Again, I thank you for your support and assure you that I will work diligently on your behalf. "

For the next four years, Langevin predicts that any changes coming to Lac La Biche County will have to be a group effort.

"Thanks for allowing me to share my time dedicated to looking after the needs of our constituents. Over the next four years I foresee activity in this County requiring the support of everyone in every corner of this County to pull together to make this the best place to live, work and raise our families," he said.

Langevin says the coming challenges can be overcome and opportunities seized, as long as everyone rallies together.

"We have many challenges ahead of us but I am confident that we can successfully achieve our goal of being a progressive, prosperous and enviable county," he said. "We have the capacity, we just need the will."

He says he is excited to be working with the new faces and the returning councillors on the county council.

"I look forward to working with incumbents as well as new council members to achieve this," he said.

Results for this year's municipal election will become official on Oct. 25 when Langevin and the rest of the council gets sworn in to their positions.
