BEAVER LAKE - On Dec. 19, students, parents, and visitors gathered at Amisk Community School at the Beaver Lake Cree Nation for the annual community Christmas concert. The show got underway at 1 p.m. with an opening prayer recited by elder Rita Gladue.
Tradition continued with a drum song played by Kurtlin Favel and Jacob Castor, who took to the stage inside the school gymnasium to perform a welcome song in the Cree language.
The concert featured students from kindergarten to Grade 10 who sang and performed to a variety of well-known Christmas songs, including ‘Must be Santa’, ‘Little Drummer Boy’, and ‘Twelve Days of Christmas.’
