Families were dressed up for last year's Halloween Spooktakular at the Bold Center. This year's event will feature dozens of family-friendly activities.

LAC LA BICHE - Just in time for Halloween, the Bold Center will be hosting the seventh annual Halloween Spooktacular Event on Oct. 29 from 1:30 - 4 p.m.

This frighteningly exciting — and free — family event will scare up lots of fun with pumpkin carving, candy giveaways, games, spooky and fun science experiments and even a tour around a haunted house.

No Halloween party would be complete without a haunted house, one Jordan Green, a recreational programmer for Lac La Biche County, says is being put on by members of the Next Gen teen volunteer group through Lac La Biche County FCSS. The theme of this year’s spooky extravaganza is mad science, and those in attendance will be shown how to perform a variety of zany and fun experiments.

“We are bringing in Mad About Science out of Edmonton to provide a selection of different science experiments such as a bouncy ball factory and static electricity station…things that are fun for all ages,” said  Green, adding that the afternoon of amusement will also feature a fire and ice show, which takes place from 2-2:30 p.m. “We will also have a photo booth.”

Those who attend can also win prizes for having the best costume.

“Everyone is encouraged to dress up for the event and there will be a costume contest,” she said.
