Boyle RCMP may have some early Easter gifts to give to some area residents after two arrests have resulted in a cache of stolen items being recovered — including school equipment.

On Wednesday at approximately 7:30 p.m., Boyle RCMP attended a residence within the Village of Boyle and executed a feeney warrant — a lawful search of the property obtained with a court order — on a male known to police to have outstanding warrants.

The male was arrested without incident, and during the arrest, police noticed a snowboard they recognized being part of an on-going stolen property file. Police secured the scene and a more comprehensive search of the property was conducted. During the search, police were able to locate items believed to have been stolen from incidents  dating back to November 2019.

A female was also arrested in relation to the incident.

Boyle RCMP are saying  that both the male and female are suspects in a string of break and enter crimes at various Boyle-area buildings, including to the local Seniors Centre, residential propertie, a private shed, and the Boyle School — where recovered hand tools and equipment  were believed to have once been part of the school's Industrial Arts class.

Luc Roy, 30, and Talia Favel, 22,  both from Athabasca, are each facing 10 charges of possession of property obtained by crime, two charges of break and enter and one charge of mischief under $5,000

“This is a great feeling of being able to recover and return personal belongings back to its rightful owners, and the tools back to our local school.”, says Cst. Andrew Deme of the Boyle RCMP. “We strive as a detachment to ensure the residents of not only our Village, but our surrounding community that when issues are addressed in regards to crime, that we listen and take action.”

Roy has been remanded into custody, and is scheduled to appear Monday March 30 in Edmonton Provincial Court. Favel is scheduled to appear in Boyle Provincial Court on Tuesday June 23
