A news release sent to media today by Canada's Energy Citizens, — a think-tank with connetions to the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) — say fuel pries could go even higher if a new policy is approved by the federal government.

Here's what they are saying ...

— We know affordability is a serious concern for Canadians – and we need policy that doesn't make Canadian's lives more expensive.

One policy that needs your attention is the “Clean Fuels Standard” (CFS).

In short, CFS will make life less affordable for Canadians. It will cost families more to heat their homes and at the pump.

According to the Canadian Energy Research Institute, it will cost you an additional 11 cents per litre every time you fill your vehicle.

The Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) has said it will not only increase costs for transportation, and manufacturing, but it will also put Canadian companies at a competitive disadvantage relative to global competitors who do not have such regulations.

In an era where Canada’s energy sector is already struggling to compete, the CFS takes billions of dollars out of the Canadian economy, putting more stress on every industry in the country.

CFS will cost us all more, which ultimately means less jobs, and less money for government revenues to spend on things like new hospitals, schools and roads in our communities

Thanks!
