Clue production by JAWS students offers a week of laughs

Week of performances for JAWS Drama shows Clues of young talen

LAC LA BICHE - Opening night for the JA Williams High School (JAWS) production of the classic whodunnit Clue on Wednesday night drew a large crowd and much applause from those who attended. It was the same for the next two evening shows through the week.

The play was a farce-meets-murder mystery. The community shows ran Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights, starting at 7pm in the 250-seat McGrane Theatre at Lac La Biche's Portage College campus.

The story is set in a remote mansion called Boddy Manor, where six mysterious guests  gather for dinner. Before long, their host is found dead, and they all become suspects. Despite the dark topic, the production was infused with humour, bringing applause and laughter from the audience.

The three evening performances were held along with five daytime shows for school students.

This version of Clue, put on by Drama students at JAWS, starred 19 students, who played the ensemble cast of colourful characters from the popular board game and movie. Some of the young actors included  Stealth Chikowski as (Mr. Green,  Jorja Finnestad as Prof. Plum, Cidra Kaufman  as Ms. Scarlett, and Duric Juhlin, who was cast as the dapper and checky Wadsworth.

Students from the audio-visual and multi-media communications class at the school worked the lights and sound for the stage, which featured a carousel of rotating rooms inside Boddy Manor such as the library, kitchen, and dining room.

JAWS Drama teacher Marlo Hanson said the Clue shows were intended as a fun night out for community members, and to showcase the skills of the JAWS students. Tickets for the shows were $10 and the funds went back into the Drama program.
