Cold Lake ice wins round one of NEAHL U-11 Tier 2 Division Championships

Lac La Biche played host to round one of the North Eastern Alberta Hockey League (NEAHL) U11 Tier 2 tournament over the weekend. The league finals are set to take place in Cold Lake on the March 22 weekend.

LAKELAND - On Sunday morning, the Cold Lake Ice defeated the Lac La Biche Clippers 9-4 to win round one of the 2024 North Eastern Alberta Hockey League (NEAHL) U-11 Tier 2 Division Championships.

The weekend tournament, hosted by the Clippers, took place at the Bold Center and also included the Mallaig Monarchs and the Bonnyville Pontiacs. Following the win, the Ice advance to the finals, which are being hosted in Cold Lake on the March 22 weekend.

The Clippers’ first game of the three-day tournament took place Friday and resulted in a 3-2 win over the Mallaig Monarchs. The following morning, home team faced off against Cold Lake-the eventual winners-dropping a 5-3 decision in that game.

Later on Saturday, the Clippers would face the Monarchs a second time, winning 6-1. Also on Saturday, the Monarchs met the Bonnyville Pontiacs on the ice, coming away with an 11-5 win.
