LAC LA BICHE - A collision between a deer and a pickup truck on Monday night south of Lac La Biche resulted in minor injuries for the truck's 60-year-old driver.

The collision happened just before 8 p.m. on a stretch of Highway 36 near the Bonesville subdivision. The crash killed the animal and sent the pickup truck into a roadside marsh.

John Kokotilo, the regional fire chief for Lac La Biche County said fire crews from the Lac La Biche Station #1 responded with seven members. At the scene, he explained, fire crews assessed the patient, assisted EMS crews, and ensured the vehicle was disabled and not a safety factor.

As emergency crews worked, Lac La Biche RCMP closed one lane of the highway to traffic for about half an hour.
