The event was hosted by the Lac La Biche Elks lodge #470.

LAC LA BICHE - There was a good turnout for the ‘Elks on Ice’ event, which took place on March 9 at the boat launch on the Winston Churchill causeway in Lac La Biche.

The event, which was hosted by the Lac La Biche Elks lodge #470, ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and featured ice fishing, campfires, hot dogs, and hamburgers. Those who attended were also given an opportunity to learn how to fish. There was a warm-up tent on the ice next to the concession area featuring monitors showing visitors an underwater live-camera view of Lac La Biche Lake.

Charlie the Elk, the Elks’ mascot, also made an appearance at the event walking around socializing with ice fishers spread out around the area.
