Excited to be back

A familiar face in the Lac La Biche newsroom

Hello again Lac La Biche!

This might seem like deja vu to you if you remember a little article that was published almost exactly a year ago introducing someone named Bianca Mazziotti. Well it is me... again, introducing myself… again. I am back at the Lac La Biche Post as a news reporter. I began my reporting journey at the Post and it appears that the saga continues.

When I accepted the reporting job at the end of November 2019, I didn’t expect that in a few short months I would be reporting in a pandemic, and then get laid off because of said pandemic, and then get my job back, but here we are. This year has been filled with ups and downs, well mostly downs for the whole world, but on the brightside it’s November again, and I have my old desk back… actually I stole the better desk that my old writing partner Mahroh used to sit at, but you get my point.

A little backstory on myself, if your newspaper archives don’t stretch back a year, I am from Ontario and was born and raised in the city of Peterborough (just don’t spread that around), I moved to Toronto in 2015 to attend York University's Professional Writing program, and four years later I came out with a degree. I spent some time writing music reviews, listicles, and horoscopes before getting a notification that I got a job across the country in the big specialized municipality of Lac La Biche County.

I’ve been in Lac La Biche for a year now, and I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else during the pandemic (mostly because our active cases are usually zero). The sunsets are beautiful, the people are friendly, I just wish we could do without the minus 40 winters.

I am grateful to have had Lac La Biche be where I started my career and where I get to continue it after a COVID-made pause.
