The local Farmer's Market is back for another season with all the homemade baking, organic vegetables, and one-of-a-kind crafts on April 11.

Market manager Bev Tkachuk says that this early in the season there will only be greenhouse tomatoes and cucumbers for sale when it comes to fresh veggies, but there will be a lot of other items available.

"You can get your Easter bakings, we have the ladies who make fresh bread, we have a lady who makes custom Raggedy Annes," said Tkachuk adding that the sweet-tooth crowd will be helped by a local creator of homemade chocolate treats. "We're hoping to have the chocolate lady come again."

As the weather warms up, more vegetables will become available. Tkachuk is expecting their biggest Lac La Biche-based organic supplier, Sand Springs, to be at the market.

"We also have our local ladies who bring whatever's in season whether it be raspberries or blueberries, potatoes and carrots - all of it," she said.

All vendors of the local market must abide by a strict rule that at least 80 per cent of their goods are home made, baked or grown. All vendors also have a food safety certification and they follow all labeling regulations that require listing all ingredients.

The Farmer's Market will be open on Fridays from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Lakeland Agricom. There will be concession supplied by the Lac La Biche Ag Society who have been sponsoring the market for almost 30 years. Any interested vendors can contact Tkachuk at 780-623-0503.
