A group representing 50 community organizations from the region that helped with the 2023 Festival of Trees were recognized and received money recently.
The festival took place last November and drew thousands of people to the Bold Center for a weekend of Christmas-themed events, including the annual Christmas tree raffle. Taking a few months to tabulate the revenues and expenses from the weekend, organizers dished out more than $60,000 to the local groups at a cheque presentation event recently.
Groups receiving funding for their volunteer efforts during the festival came from a wide range of backgrounds, including the local dance club, the Rotary Club and scouting organizations.
