LAC LA BICHE - As the high school volleyball season winds down, the high school basketball season is set to get underway. Last week in Lac La Biche, Grade 9 JAWS junior varsity volleyball player Zander Kruk was getting some practice for hoop season at the Bold Center.

Kruk, along with a few other local basketball players, spent part of the evening on the courts sharpening their skills.

Practices for the JAWS basketball teams start this week. According to Andrew Przybylski, a coach of the senior boys' team, and the high school's athletic director, both senior girls' and boys' teams only have three or four players returning from last year, meaning this is going to be a development season.

He said the school will be hosting a JV tournament in mid-December, which will either be for one or two days, depending on the number of teams that are competing.
