Gord Bamford #REDNEK concert is coming to town

Shine up your belt buckles and get your yee-haw yellers ready — Bamford's comin' to town.

Get your cowboy hats and boots ready because Gord Bamford's #Rednek Music Festival will be coming to Lac La Biche County on April 17.

The show will be held at the Bold Center and is open to all ages.

Australian-born and Alberta-raised, Bamford is the lead headliner for the night, which is part of a rolling Canadian tour that began last year with the spring-time release of his chart-topping ninth album #Rednek. After dozens of stages — including 22 gigs already in 2020, Bambford will be part of a festival of performers for the Lac La Biche show, including Jess Moskaluke, Eric Ethridge, Andrew Hyatt, Cory Marks, Duane Steele, and Ghost Boy.

Bamford is a 24-time winner of Canadian Country Music Association awards, since his first for Top New Talent of the Year in 2008. The singer, who moved with his mom from Australia to Lacombe, near Red Deer when he was just eight, has been nominated four times for a Juno award in the Best County Album category, and  he's also the only Canadian singer to win two County Music Association awards — both for Global Country Artist, one in 2013 and the other in 2015. His eighth studio album, single titled “Neon Smoke,” which was released in 2018, contained his smash hit “Diva Bar.”

The deocorated singer is also a powerhouse when it comes to charity work, raising more than three million dollars through the Gord Bamford Foundation for organizations in support of children, including the Ronald McDonald House, Big Brother & Sisters, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and children's hospitals across Canada.

Juno winner and platinum single

Performing with Bamford at the #Rednek show is 2018 CCMA Award winner Jess Moskaluke. The 2017 Juno Award winner for Album of the Year is known for her captivating lyrics and a unique voice. The Saskatchewan-born singer is also known to draw her crowds into her intimate performances — whether she's playing an arena or a community hall.

When asked if she prefers larger centres over smaller venues, the 29-year-old singer with 32 million YouTube views and two-million sales of her 2014 single Cheap Wine and Cigarettes didn't need much time to answer.

"As a small-town girl myself, I’d be lying if I said the smaller venues didn’t have a special place in my heart,” she told the POST.
