Lac La Biche Imam prays for strong families in 2021

Imam has faith in the resilience of family

LAC LA BICHE - The Imam at Lac La Biche's Al-Kareem Mosque has a lot of faith in the strength of the family. In a year that has seen that strength tested time and time again, the spiritual leader of the region's Muslim community praises all families within the community for that resilience.

"Family is the foundation of society. It is where we prepare ourselves to practice giving and receiving love,"  Imam Mohammed Abdelwahab  tells Lakeland This Week, as part of a year-end wish for the entire community.  "A stable, happy family is essential for our community and our country as a whole. This year, I pray for a strong, healthy, happy family."
Imam's Prayer: “Lord, grant us joy in our spouses and children, and make us role models for those who are God-conscious. Nowadays, we have the Covid 19 situation and lots of family members and friends are being affected physically and mentally  —  and our duty is to stand by their side and help them get over this challenge."

Imam Mohammad says each an every resident needs to play a role in creating a better, safer world. A community is simply an extended family, he says.

"A stable family needs a strong community. We all know that building and constructing a community is not such an easy task. It is a responsibility to be taken on the shoulders of each one of us," he said, explaining that challenges can be overcome if everyone works for a common goal.  "And this year especially, due to COVID-19, we have to work together to maintain the safety and strength of our community by following the public safety rules. In the end, I pray for a strong community where we can live together in happiness, safety, and prosperity."

The Imam's wish for 2021 is for community members to better themselves and each other.

"This upcoming year, for sure, carries a new dream for every one of us. whether the previous year was full of successes and happiness, or tragedy and sorrow, we look forward to doing better this new year."
