Lac La Biche RCMP seek public help in Pine Lane shooting case

Police say gunshots were not a random event

LAC LA BICHE - It's been over a week since gunshots filled the early morning air in the Pine Lane area, with a home reportedly being the target — and local police are hoping the public can help with their ongoing investigation.

In a press release issued this weekend, Lac La Biche RCMP say that a week earlier, at 5 a.m. on Aug. 6, they responded to a report of several rounds of a suspected firearm discharged at a residence in the area of Pine Lane, a mobile home park located 15 kilometres west of the Lac La Biche hamlet.

The initial investigation, which has included Alberta RCMP's Forensic Identification Section as well as preliminary witness interviews, has determined that the incident was likely not a random act, say local police.

No one was injured in the alleged shooting, but police say the residence was damaged.

As the investigation continues, Lac La Biche RCMP are looking to speak to anyone who has not yet spoken with police and who may have information on this incident, surveillance footage, dash camera recordings, witnessed this incident, or are able to potentially identify those responsible.

The Lac La Biche RCMP detachment can be reached at 780-404-2500. Information can also be directed to the Crime Stoppers service at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS),
