Lac La Biche transportation business offers rides to Edmonton and airport

Only a few seats remain for Tuesday morning ride to help travellers get where they need

As people of the region cope with the challenges and changes of the COVID-19 pandemic, local businesses are also looking for ways to not only keep their companies rolling, but to also help their neighbours in difficult times.

In Lac La Biche, Enricho Fechner, the owner of Northland Travels, is using his comfortable passenger coach to get people who may need services, supplies or travel to a larger centre.

“We thought that we should have one more run to Edmonton in case anyone is up here and might get stuck away from family if everything shuts down,” said Fechner, adding that there are only a few seats left on the ride that leaves Tuesday morning at 8 am.

The special Edmonton run will be the last service for Northland Travels for the rest of the month.

Hearing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announce closures at almost all Canadian airports to international travel, Fechner thought there might be some people who simply need to get to an area with more services or more options for further transportation. The unique regional service offered at Northland Travels allows customers to travel in comfort to and from specific locations.

“I hope we can help people get back to their homes, or find the services they need in the challenging days ahead. I thought, ‘hey, if I have a vehicle that can take a few more people, then why not?’
