Lac La Biche’s Portage Pool ends 2019 with a splash

Swimmers of all ages ended the year with a splash thanks to the Portage pool.

Swimmers of all ages ended the year with a splash bash thanks to the Portage pool in Lac La Biche.

Staff at the municipally-operated public pool wanted to help send out 2019 with a wave of fun, so they floated their first-ever Glow Party at the pool on New Year's Eve. The afternoon event saw the pool lit up with splashes of neon light and waves of glow sticks for a fun family session to end the year, says Aquatic Services Supervisor Sarah Jackson, and what better way than to host a Glow Party

Plenty of parents brought their little ones to join the first time event and to have some fun in the pool, lit up by neon lights and glow sticks.

This is an innovative twist on our usual programming, to help ring in the New Year with a bit of a party,” said Jackson.

The event held no extra charge to the pool’s regular fees of $4 for children and $6 for adults.

"This is a great way to say goodbye to 2019 and look forward to 2020," Jackson said.
