Lac La Biche Little Sprouts Child Care Centre hosted their Art Walk and Silent Auction fundraiser at the centre on Wednesday, March 28.

The event showcased art work by the kids at the child care center which was displayed in the Ste Catherine Francophone School's hallway and classrooms, where Little Sprouts shares space. Even though the hallway's art walk was mainly for showing parents how the young artists are already learning so much from the centre's educators, the silent auction part of the event served as a little fundraiser for the local organization, says Lac La Biche Little Sprouts Child Care Center's Director Beryl McNulty. She also discusses the different types of programming and learning at the center.

"We are highlighting all the different ways we are doing their programming. The kids do a variety of things at the centre. They made little paint brushes out of straws a couple of weeks ago and lots of different things... It's an exhibition and then we have some pieces for a silent auction as well. It is just to raise a little bit of money for programming for the children... We will probably be buying outside toys for them because every year they need something new out there," McNulty said.

Even though the event is a small fundraiser, it is also a fun way to show parents how the kids have been doing in their early learning years, says McNulty. She mentioned how grateful she is with parents taking the time to see the kids' progress and was happy with the turnout for the Art Walk in general. The staff from the center are planning to keep on organizing such events, expecting and hoping for even more participation and enthusiasm.

"This is just a small fundraiser, it is mainly just for fun... We thank everyone for coming here, seeing the center and enjoying the artwork. I think it is important for the parents to see what the educators and the children are doing in their days with the programming," said McNulty.
