Mini Wow Pow draws 18 school volleyball teams from across northeastern Alberta

JAWS boys and girls finish in second at mini-Wow Pow, Notre Dame girls in gold

LAC LA BICHE - Bonnyville's Notre Dame High School girls won the mini Wow Pow volleyball tournament hosted by Lac La Biche's J.A. Willliams High School over the weekend. The tournament drew 18 Grade 9 and 10 teams from across northeastern Alberta.  Notre Dame beat the host team girls in two sets 25-23 and 25-20. On the boys' side, the JAWS squad also finished in second place, losing the championship finals in three sets to Fort McMurry's Holy Trinity. 

The two day competition was held at the Bold Centre in Lac La Biche.

Wow Pow coming

The mini Wow Pow serves as a warm-up for the annual Wow Pow tournament that draws more than 40 boys and girls senior high school teams to Lac La Biche. The Wow Pow tourney has been hosted by J. A. Williams High School for more than 50 years. Wow Pow games start Oct. 27.
