Musical performances highlight annual Plamondon Harvest Festival

PLAMONDON - A decent-sized crowd turned out at The Philip Menard Cultural Centre on Sunday for the 2023 Plamondon Harvest Festival. Throughout the afternoon, people enjoyed food and musical performances.

Dominic Plamondon, a descendant of Joe Plamondon, who founded the community in 1908, entertained the crowd with his style of traditional folklore music. Afterward, P’tit Belliveau, a French-Canadian rock band from Bay Sainte Marie, Nova Scotia, took to the stage. Plamondon was one of two Alberta stops for the group, who were also set to play gigs in Whitehorse, Yellowknife, and Vancouver.

The Harvest festival is put on each year by the Lac La Biche-Plamondon regional chapter of the French-Canadian Association of Alberta. The event began in 1982 as a way for residents to get together to celebrate the harvest.
