Fifteen- two — fifteen-four, a run of three and the right jack .... On cold, dark nights, there’s nothing quite like gathering with friends and neighbours for some friendly games of cribbage and conversation. Throughout the autumn, winter and spring months, Lac La Biche's McGrane Branch #28 of the Royal Canadian Legion will be hosting crib nights every Wednesday beginning at 6:30 p.m.
According to representatives of the local branch, the events draw roughly 16-20 players per night. The teams are drawn up each night for a six-game, round-robin tournament that tallies total pegged points.
Each player pays $5 at the beginning of the evening, with half of the combined collection going to the branch while the other half is awarded to the first, second, and third place winners. The evening of games and fun also includes a "19 pot" where players who get a hand of zero points throw a quarter into the pot. At the end of the evening, names are drawn, with the winners receiving money from the pot.
