New Protective Services Building unveiled to the public

LAC LA BICHE - A community grand opening for the new Lac La Biche County Protective Services Building was held on Tuesday afternoon.

Almost five months after all of the municipality's fire and enforcement services departments moved into the new, state-of-the-art building on Beaver Hill Road, the doors were opened to the public for tours and demonstrations. Once a Ford vehicle dealership, a $6 million facility makeover turned the property into a training, dispatch and administrative headquarters for municipally-controlled  emergency services.

Despite a steady rainfall that forced some outdoor plans inside the building, the community open house drew hundreds of area residents for a fun-filled day of activities, information and a free barbecue lunch.
