Police arrest three after report of shots fired from vehicle

Lac La Biche residents have been looking or answers after a mid-afternoon police arrest on Monday that saw police cars surround a vehicle near the busy intersection of Main Street and Highway 36. On Wednesday afternoon RCMP issued a statement that said three suspects are facing charges in relation to the incident.

Lac La Biche RCMP say that at approximately 3:30 pm., they responded to a call of an erratic driver in the hamlet. Police located the vehicle near the TAGS Esso station on Main Street and attempted to pull the vehicle over. Two people jumped from the car and ran from police, allegedly leaving a loaded rifle inside the vehicle.

As police caught the suspects, another call came in that the occupants of a vehicle had allegedly been shot at by occupants of another vehicle. The matter is believed to be related to the erratic driving call.

Craig Phillip Cardinal, 34, of Heart Lake has been charged with dangerous driving, careless use/storage of a firearm, and two counts of discharge firearm with intent. He was released after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on Dec. 2, 2019.

Lorne Eugene Cardinal (23) of Lac La Biche has been charged with obstructing a peace officer, careless use/storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public possessing a firearm while prohibited, two counts of discharging a firearm wit intent and two counts of breaching probation.  He was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on Dec. 2, 2019.

Joshua Edgar Ladouceur, 30, of Heart Lake is facing charges of obstructing a peace office, and two counts of breaching a recognizance. He was remanded into custody and will be appearing in St. Paul Provincial Court on Nov. 21, 2019.

Police say that as the matter is now before the courts, no further information will be provided.
