RCMP vehicles have a driveway into a rural property blocked off and unmarked vehicles are lining the ditch, just south of the Lac La Biche hamlet.
Police vehicles can also be seen inside the heavily treed property, a residential yard just south of the Lac La Biche hamlet on Highway 36. Children's playground equipment can also be seen in the yard.
The large police presence — which some witnesses say has been in progress since before 4 pm— hasn't been explained with a media statement by local RCMP.
The Lac La Biche POST newsroom has asked for details or a comment from local RCMP. We'll update when there is any information.
The property is located about two kilomeres south of the Ramada Hotel on Highway 36, just north of the recently closed Stewart Sales and Rentals business.
At 5 pm, an ambulance was parked at a nearby roadway a few hundred metres from the property.
