LAC LA BICHE - RCMP have made an arrest in connection with the death of a 22-year-old man in a Lac La Biche area home on Sept. 4.
Lac La Biche RCMP and RCMP Major Crimes say on Sept. 14 Ronald Giroux-Belcourt, 29, was arrested and charged with second degree murder and aggravated assault.
The charges stem from the death of Cason Monias at a rural residence about two kilometres south of the Lac La Biche hamlet on Highway 36. RCMP say they were called to the residence to check on the well-being of occupants. Inside the home they found a man's body.
A cause of death has not been released by RCMP, but an autopsy completed on Sept. 11 determined the manner of death was a homicide.
Giroux-Belcourt has been remanded into custody and will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in St. Paul on Sept. 21.
RCMP did not say if the victim or the suspect lived in the community.
