LAC LA BICHE - Remembrance Day is a time to reflect and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of their country. In and around the Lac La Biche area, events will be taking place at the Lac La Biche Legion as well as in area schools on or close to Nov. 11.
Danny Stevens, the president of the McGrane Branch #28 of the Royal Canadian Legion, said the Remembrance Day ceremony will start on Saturday, November 11, at approximately 10:45 a.m. by the cenotaph next to the branch building. This observance will be followed by a light lunch for members of the Royal Canadian Legion as well as invited guests.
“The building will be open after the luncheon for anyone who wishes to drop by and see the Legion,” Stevens told Lakeland This Week, anticipating strong community support for the annual commemoration. “The ceremony in Lac La Biche has been well attended and once again we thank the community for its tremendous support.”
The outdoor ceremony returns to the cenotaph again this year after several years of indoor services held in the Bold Center.
