Reuben and the Dark second show of 2024 Music in the Forest series

The show took place on March 28 inside the community hall at Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park

The 2024 Music in the Forest series continued on March 28 with a performance by the folk-rock outfit Reuben and the Dark.

A near-capacity crowd filled the inside of the Community Hall at Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park for the intimate show, which started at 7:30 p.m.

The group is fronted by singer-songwriter Reuben Bullock, originally based out of Calgary, but who now calls Joshua Tree, California, home. For Thursday’s concert - the first time Bullock has played in Lac La Biche - he brought along musicians Samuel Harrison and Ben Longman.

Throughout the two-hour show, those who attended were treated to several of Bullock’s songs, including ‘Rising’, ‘Timelapse Clouds’, ‘Coming Like a Storm’, and a new one, ‘Youth.’ The music of Reuben and the Dark has also been featured in such popular TV shows as ‘Breaking Bad’, ‘Game of Thrones’, the ‘Handmaid’s Tale’, and the ‘Highwaymen.’

The next Music in the Forest series concert is set for the May long weekend with a performance by Canadian country artist Justin LaBrash. The show, which takes place on May 18 at 2:30 p.m., will be inside the campground Amphitheatre. Ticket information is available through the Albeta Parks website.
