LAC LA BICHE - The Christmas season is a time for parties and get-togethers with friends and family to celebrate good cheer.
On Dec. 7, Lac La Biche County Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) will be hosting the annual seniors’ holiday social at the Bold Centre Community Hall from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
FCSS manager Anita Polturak says the seniors holiday social has been going on since 2014.
“Typically, there is lunch and dancing,” she told Lakeland This Week, adding that in some years, there have been giveaways and door prizes for the 125 to 150 people who attend.
Polturak said the seniors holiday social is designed to reduce social isolation for seniors, especially at a time of the year when isolation can feel more acute. It’s also a way for them to meet new people and find out more about FCSS programming.
“It is an opportunity for seniors to perhaps meet other seniors they have not previously met, and to connect with our FCSS staff,” she continued. “Staff can also help connect seniors with programs available to them from other County departments or other levels of government.”
