A local man sprung into action at the scene of a hellish crash on Highway 881 last Saturday morning, helping to pull two victims to safety. Alvin Brockman ran from vehicle to vehicle checking on occupants and doing what he could to comfort those involved in the multi-vehicle wreck that killed one woman.

Three people are dead after heavy winter weather caused numerous collisions on highways across the Lac La Biche region. Over a three-day period starting Nov. 20, three separate accidents resulted in fatalities on Highways 881 and 36.

With no official plans for structural improvement, the future of Highway 881 running from Lac La Biche to Fort McMurray is still up in the air. The highway is still on the provincial government’ s radar though.

Thieves steal radioactive device from oilfield truck. Lac La Biche and Fort McMurray RCMP are searching for someone who has stolen something that could be more trouble than it's worth. Police say a radioactive device was stolen sometime over the last three days from a pickup truck parked at an area oilfield site.

An arsonist's early morning crime forced the temporary closure of some businesses within the Squirrely's block Monday morning, as the deliberately set fire scorched main power lines on the outside of the building.

Members of the Lakeland Interpretive Society are still counting, but the proceeds from the grand opening of the Lac La Biche Regional Museum and Discovery Centre at McArthur Place are expected to total approximately $11,000.

County officials have responded to community concerns that the annual Lac La Biche County Christmas party, a private party for county employees, is a publicly funded event.
