AHS not announcing first births for second New Year in a row

If you've got the New Year Baby, let us know. The 2021 babies section is also taking shape

LAKELAND - Media outlets across the province were issued a reminder from Alberta Health Services (AHS) on Dec. 30 that due to continuing pandemic measures, they would not be announcing New Year Babies in communities this year.

"While we understand that this is a traditional news event, it is simply not possible to invite media into our facilities at this time, or facilitate media interviews," noted AHS spokesperson James Wood. "In addition, our labour and delivery teams are extremely busy, and priority must be given to patient care."

Across the communities covered by Lakeland This Week and our wider LakelandToday audience, we encourage readers to send us their New Year baby stories.

It's also a good time for a reminder that the Babies of 2021 section is also in production right now for our Lakeland This Week readers and advertisers.
