BONNYVILLE – On Nov. 13, the Beaver River Beef 4-H Club held a club weigh-in and awards.

“My calf Rusty Dusty, a Speckle Park steer, born in early April weighed 736 lbs.,” reported Katie Thomson, the junior club reporter.

Thomson left the weigh-in event with a show comb prize after she had made the most accurate guess of her show steer’s weight. She had guessed 735lbs.

The Beaver River 4-H club has 23 members and four Cleaver members.

“Each of members are doing various beef projects,” said Thomson. “Our club has many different kinds and breeds of cattle and even some with very unique patterns – kind of like mine, his ears are super fluffy.”

Thomson notes the weather during the most recent weigh-in was beautiful and mild.

“Our club brought snacks and hot chocolate to share. It was very fun to see everyone and get together. I am very excited to watch everyone’s projects grow,” said the junior reporter.

As the 4-H club prepares to bring 2022 to a close, members also held a winter coat drive as an act of community service. The clothing drive wrapped up at their Christmas party earlier this month.
