Bonnyville RCMP fine tractor-driver after drunk driving complaint

GOODRIDGE - Bonnyville RCMP say a 69-year-old man who was reportedly driving a farm tractor last Sunday afternoon across an oil lease in the Goodridge area, narrowly missed a pedestrian before getting stuck in a ditch. The man has been issued provincial sanctions for impaired driving.

Police say they received a complaint on June 18 just before 4 p.m. about a suspected drunk driver on a tractor. When police arrived at the rural location, the tractor-driver had reportedly got into a pickup truck and driven to a nearby residence. Police went to the home, resulting in a Goodridge resident being issued Provincial Sanctions for impaired driving.

For a first time offence, the sanctions can include a fine of up to $1,000, a 90-day license suspension and a 30-day vehicle seizure.

The sanctions can replace Criminal Code charges. In accordance with the provincial sanctions, the name of the man will not be released by police.
