“The bishops in solidarity with all of Albertans are responding to the information from the chief medical officer and, therefore, we accept that it is in the common good to suspend all masses, both weekend and weekdays. This is, of course, while we are dealing with this public health challenge. As to Holy Week, further information will be coming due to the rapidity with which developments are coming,” Bishop Terrio said.
“We invite everyone to join in prayers and petitions for the health of all victims, those in health care and for the general public. We intend that if we are not able to have public masses, nevertheless, we want to have our church doors open so that people can go personally to spend some time with the Lord and be strengthened.”
Bishop Terrio said further information will be forthcoming as this worldwide crisis develops.
“We don’t want the people to be without the consolation and support of religion and if they are not able to gather as normally on the weekend, we want them, nevertheless, to be able to access the churches for personal devotions and strengthening.”
